My heart was made by God
He gave it to me whole
To lay upon my soul
Where only love can trod.
Love and the heart are one
Shadows and sunshine
Darkness and moonshine
Blessings from the Son.

When the heart bleeds
Love is an open reed
The heart skips a beat
Love turns in angry heat
No longer wanting to care.

Your weapon pierced my soul
The heart no longer whole
My love has turned cold
And I suddenly grow old.
One harsh word spoken
Meant to break the skin
Plunged itself within
Not leaving a love token.
The days and weeks will pass
Heart will mend
Love will bend
My soul a weary mass.

My heart did heal
Some blood was spilled
Love grew anew
Fresh as the dew
Trust has left the soul.
 The scars upon my heart
Rub against my soul
Making my love for you smart
Soul no longer whole.

What is there left when trusting you
Is but a fading memory?
